Basic Job Purpose:
The Packaging Operator, Reagents is responsible for the manual inspection, labeling, and packaging of clinical and commercial products in support of the BD-SurePath(TM) and ProEx(TM) C value streams.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Perform finished product packaging for BD-SurePath(TM) and ProEx(TM) C as required to satisfy all customer, internal, clinical, and other demand.
2. Ensure finished product is packaged in accordance with procedures and Quality specifications. Inspect in-process packaging, components to ensure consistent quality and remove defective products and packaging material.
3. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of manufacturing activities related to product packaging, including but not limited to device history records and inventory counts.
4. Perform simple mathematical calculations required to assist in completion of batch records.
5. Complete scheduled production runs in an efficient, timely manner to meet production schedules or maintain Kanbans.
6. Utilize Kaizen Action Sheets on a regular basis to suggest improvements to existing processes.
7. Participate in Continuous Improvement projects or events as requested.
8. Assist with inventory counting activities as required.
9. Participate in safety audits as required and actively engage in daily safety discussions/observations.
10. Perform routine cleaning of packaging station and processing equipment.
11. Abide by all personal protective equipment and product contamination control (i.e. gowning) requirements.
12. Handle hazardous waste as appropriate.
Job Dimensions:
o Works on assignments that are manual and routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from specification is required.
o Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
o Interacts daily with other employees within Reagent Manufacturing to ensure robust understanding of current activities across the department.
o Trains or seeks training on new and revised procedures to maintain currency on all areas of job scope.
o Must work directly with a machine operator for an unspecified amount of time and demonstrate competency in order to be able to become a machine operator.
Education and Experience Required:
o High school diploma/GED
o A minimum of 6 months of industry work experience
o Strong attention to detail
o Work well in a team environment
o Good documentation practices
o Must be willing and able to work a flexible work schedule including static or rotating shifts and overtime as required
o Familiarity with computers and various software for general business functionality
o Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations
Education and Experience Preferred:
o Associate's Degree in a field related to manufacturing, biology, or business
o Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
