Job Description:
The Vernon Law Firm has an immediate opening for a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team.
In this role, you will provide valuable support, ensuring the smooth functioning of our client's cases, focusing primarily on family law, estate planning, and other related matters.

Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with document preparation and case management.
- Client intake - Open, maintain, scan, and organize legal files, documents, and databases.
- Prepare and proofread legal documents, contracts, and correspondence.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, court hearings, and depositions.
- Assist in the drafting and filing of legal documents such as pleadings, motions, orders, and briefs.
- File and serve court documents - Notarize documents - Communicate via telephone or in-person with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and other parties involved in legal matters.
- Handle administrative tasks such as managing calendars, answering phone calls, and organizing appointments.
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
- Stay updated on relevant legal developments and assist in preparing summaries and reports.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma Required, Bachelor's degree Preferred - Notary Public Certification is required.
- Previous experience working as a legal assistant or in a similar role is required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Typing speed of a minimum of 60 wpm.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency in using computer software and legal document management systems.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Word is required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work alone as well as within a team.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
